I live in the Northeast and it has been H O T! Let's face it, wearing tons of jewelry in hot weather is not always a great idea. Fashion jewelry pieces don't do well when they get wet unless you've done your homework and chosen pieces that won't tarnish and that will hold up to the heat and humidity. And do I have you covered there! Choosing pieces from our coconut shell line will make your outfits POP and you'll be cool and comfortable!
This is just a few of the many colors and styles Paparazzi offers in our wood and coconut shell line. We have multicolored accessories, bracelets and so many other styles to help you beat the heat!
I do nursing home and assisted living shows. What I love the most about these events is meeting the lovely ladies and men who live in the homes, and I love learning about the things that they love! This wonderful woman wears fringed sweaters and does her hair in the most amazing styles. She is in a wheelchair, but she is by no means without style. She loves color, and she loves to look nice. Does she have a lot of jewelry? Probably. But who doesn't like something brand new? Who doesn't love to shop at a fair or at a bazaar? And when the jewelry is super cute and only five bucks why resist? You just don't. You spring for the cute ring and matching bracelet. And you grab a second set in a complementary color so that you feel that flirty, fun, fresh feeling that comes with pairing new accessories with your existing wardrobe. I loved this show. And this amazing woman epitomizes why I love my business. That smile. That happy, I just got a great set of jewelry smile!
What a crazy year for our family! We moved, then we had two graduations, we toured college campuses and filled out forms, we had a graduation party and we have been loving our lakefront paradise!
And now its time for me to get back to my business and get going! I can't believe so much time has passed since my last blog entry, all I can say is that summer has hit our home with a fury! Even this week there are so many distractions that I have to really be strong and get down to business. I'm going to the beach Thursday, I had to say no to the beach for tomorrow. That takes courage and will power! I love the beach!
I try not to push Paparazzi down people's throats when they come over, but its hard not to see it. Especially when I get in new shipments and I have jewelry all over my kitchen table! When a mom came in to pick up her daughter she saw piles of jewelry and asked what I was doing. I showed her a few pieces and gave her the cutest little silver and black bracelet. Within 24 hours I welcomed her as a new consultant to my jewelry team! What a great way to get back into the swing of things!
It took me a long time to learn that if I don't tell people what I do they sometimes just don't ask. Learning to talk about what I do in a way that isn't overbearing took time, and I also had to learn how to talk about my business without fearing the word NO. In fact now I welcome the word no! Tell me NO! Please! Because I want the 100 NO's over my shoulder so that I can get that much closer to a YES!
I heard the greatest story on NPR about a guy who took control of his fear of rejection. He would actually knock on doors and ask people if he could use their yard to play ball, or if he could plant a plant in their garden, all in the hopes of hearing NO. If he got a yes then he carried out his random and maybe bizarre activities. But what he really wanted to hear was the NO.
Listening to that story rocked my world! I could not get over that he pursued this exercise just as a way to control his fears. He had no business that would benefit, he was after the personal growth piece of the equation. He wanted to grow as a human being and challenge his own limitations just to be a better, stronger man. His story took hold of me and has not let me go ever since hearing it. And so I'm challenging myself, in my business and in my life, so that I too can conquer fear.
I hope you all enjoy your summer. And if the opportunity presents itself, and you want to join us, maybe look one of your fears in the eye and just say, "Not today. Today I am not afraid. Today there is nothing that I fear."
Just me, my phone, my jewelry, and a bunch of little cards with numbers on them.
Have you heard of facebook live? It's all the rage for online parties, connecting, partying. I'll be putting my toe in tomorrow. I've done a few videos. I'm no expert. In fact I encourage you to come to my jewelry show if for no other reason than to get yourself a good laugh! Because undoubtedly I'll be making so many mistakes seeing as how this is my first facebook live jewelry sale! BUT I have one thing going for me. I love Paparazzi jewelry. And I think once you see it and get a few pieces of your own you will too!
Bling Central. This is where it will all be going down tomorrow. Don't let me have all the fun alone. :)
Fresh from Convention, each of these pieces is one of a kind! They may come out in different colors, but you'll never see these exact pieces again! I have at least one of every piece shown, so hurry and get your hands on some! I can't wait to have you as another one of my satisfied and fashionable customers!
There are some real joys to selling $5.00 accessories. When a woman, who didn't think she'd be able to afford anything at her best friend's jewelry show arrives, she can't take her eyes off the displays. She approaches. (After she greets her friend and lays the obligatory kiss upon the hostess's cheek of course!) She walks up to the table covered with a pink table cloth showcasing the black and silver jewelry. She picks up a gunmetal bracelet stack. 4 new bracelets slide onto her wrist and she turns her arm, admiring how the bracelets look on wrist. "How much is this set?" And I tell her, "Everything we sell is $5.00!" Now this is the point when one of several responses can occur. 1. The Dumbfounded Expression followed by, "THIS is $5.00?" 2. "No way!" and the shopper turns to the person next to him/her and exclaims, "Can you BELIEVE this is $5.00?" 3. "You gotta be kidding me. All this stuff is just five bucks? What about this?" (Holds up a necklace and earring set" I grin, "Yup, that is just $5.00!" (She holds up another set, "What about this one?") I'm used to this behavior and again, still smiling, "Yes, that is also five bucks!" And typically this is the shopper who then starts loading her shopping basket with jewelry, getting something for everyone on her list. Sometimes this shopper can set off a shopping frenzy, where people are just grabbing stuff off the hooks and loading baskets! Favorite moment! So what does best friend do? She plays the cool card. She returns the bracelets to the black velvet display tray! She glances at the necklaces, drifts over to the earrings and finally settles next to the fruit and cheese platter. She keeps an eye on the bracelets while choosing a plump, green grape. More guests arrive and I worry that those gunmetal bracelets will go home with the wrong person. I do what any really great jewelry consultant would do, I grab them from the display tray and place them into a shopping basket. I'm scanning the growing crowd for the woman I know wants them; that very first arrival, the best friend. It never ceases to amaze me. No matter how many signs we put up, someone still won't believe I'm selling $5.00 accessories. Tonight it is the best friend. She keeps eye balling the place, and she keeps glancing at the spot where the bracelets were! As she comes back to the display for round 2 I hand her the basket. I say. "Here you go. I saved these for you!" And right on cue, as if this is a movie set, and I'm the Director cuing another actress, a woman steps up and says, "Oh there they are! I was going to get those and when I came back over they were gone!" I see the best friend hesitate, staring into her basket and I mention the price again. "Well for $5.00 those are a great deal! AND we can't get that style anymore! Those are one of a kind bracelets!" Which is true! Once we sell out of something not in our Blockbuster line, chance are pretty good we'll never see it again! No matter how popular it was, it's gone! All eyes are now on the best friend. What is she going to do? Will she keep those bracelets or not! No one moves and we watch as she slips them over her wrist again. She looks up at me and smiles. "I can't believe these are only five bucks!" And then she reaches for a pearl necklace set and puts it into the basket. "Do you have a ring that will match this necklace?" And with that I'm off to look at rings with her. It's a good day for me and Paparazzi!
